How Quality Website Content Can Generate the Sales Leads Your Business Needs

They say that content is king, and never before has that been so true when marketing online than it is today. These days Google wants to see something of substance, and webmasters who don't take heed are seeing their rankings plummet.

Here is a basic 3 step process for combining website content and SEO to get the most out of your marketing campaigns:

Step 1) Put Together Your Keyword List

Yes, you want killer content, but if your end goal is getting eyeballs on your offers, search engine optimisation does need to be part of the foundation for your content marketing plan. Perform an in-depth keyword analysis and put together a list of longtail keyword strings that are closely related to your offer.

Through keyword research you will be able to establish a number of things. Popular keywords provide an insight into the minds of your prospects because they tell you exactly what your market wants to know and what language they use when thinking about your niche or offer.

Step 2) Write a List of Titles

Plan out your content marketing campaign well ahead of time. Write a list of titles or basic article ideas based on the keywords you've gathered.

Again, keep in mind that the idea of each article is to deliver what people are looking for. If you think your offer can do that, or if you think giving them their answers will make them open to your offer, then it's a great candidate for an article.

They should feel relieved to find your articles.

Step 3) Build Out Your Website Content

You can either do this in batches or write articles on a regular basis, but sooner or later you have to start writing - one of the most important and least understood factors of proper optimisation is that Google wants to see content continually being added to your site.

Be sure to incorporate basic keyword strategies into each piece. That means using the keywords in areas such as the title, first paragraph, and towards the lower section of the article, and several times within the body (depending on the length of the article).

It is most effective when you have on-site and off-site SEO strategies in place.

The most brilliant thing about a content strategy of this nature is that it isn't about fooling the search engines, and that's what makes it so effective over the long-term. We're giving both the search engines and the readers what they want, we're pulling traffic to your site, and we're building credibility in the process.

And that's what smart search engine optimisation is all about.
